Dr. Candice Silversides is a cardiologist and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She specializes in pregnancy and heart disease and adult congenital heart disease. She is director of the Pregnancy and Heart Disease Program at Mount Sinai Hospital, head of the University of Toronto Obstetric Medicine Program, and research director of the Toronto Congenital Cardiac Center for Adults. Dr Silversides is also Vice President of the Canadian Adult Congenital Heart Network, an organization committed to improving the care of adults with congenital heart disease. She co-authored the Canadian Cardiovascular Society guidelines on the management of adults with congenital heart disease and has been involved with a number of other international guidelines and consensus statements. Her research is primarily focused on improving the care of pregnant women with heart disease.
